The major role of blood circulation is to deliver oxygen to various types of cells for the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which provides energy to all kinds of enzymes so that they can function normally. For instance, during signal transmission through synapses (Figure 19b), the release of neurotransmitters is catalyzed by ATP-dependent enzymes. Hence, synaptic transmission will stop working without oxygen supply.

Remarkably, our brain is endowed with the capability to create a geon even under anoxia which may result from heart failure or drowning. The geon created by anoxia is expected to be different from a regular geon, because most ATP-dependent enzymes have lost their functions. Such a geon possesses all three featues that characterizes a soul: conscious, to Heaven and carrying life history. The mind geon does not carry life history. The following three chapters will explain how the soul geon could be created in the absence of oxygen supply.
